How to choose a designer saree
A designer saree is one where the work carries the look: a sequin body, a zari border, a Kalamkari or paisley print, or a contrast pallu. Every piece in this category is priced between Rs.699 and Rs.899 and comes as a 5.5 m saree with a 0.8 m unstitched blouse piece, so you can get the blouse stitched to your own measurements.
Start with the occasion. For evening functions and receptions, shine and contrast photograph well, which is why sequin and neon-bordered georgettes like Sweet Dreams and Violet Glow suit them. For day functions and temple visits, prints read better than shine: the black and rust Nritya Kalamkari is a good example.
Then think about fabric. Georgette is light, falls close to the body and holds pleats, so it is the easiest to drape and to wear for a long evening. Lightweight silks such as Binny and Dola silk give more sheen and structure for formal events. If you are unsure, our silk vs georgette guide compares the two side by side.
Common questions
What is the price range of designer sarees at SR Collections?
Designer sarees are priced from Rs.699 to Rs.899. Shipping is free on orders above Rs.2000.
Do designer sarees come with a blouse?
Each saree includes a 0.8 m unstitched blouse piece in addition to the 5.5 m saree, unless the listing says otherwise. It is not a ready-made blouse, so it needs to be stitched to your size.
Which designer saree is easiest for a beginner to drape?
Georgette sarees are the easiest because they are light, fall softly and hold pleats without much pinning. Our step-by-step draping guide walks through the process.
